I am a firm believer in the power of food. Food can be medicine when used right. And in case your wondering, there are foods that have been scientifically proven to help lessen symptoms of a cold (like chicken soup), act like an anti-inflammatory (turmeric), help with nausea (ginger) and some even have anti-viral properties like garlic. Its not just folklore, chicken noodle soup has been studied and proven to help reduce upper respiratory symptoms.
So with cold and flu season in full swing. I’m battling the some sniffles myself. Cough. Cough. I created this fabulous Turmeric tea with honey. Turmeric has potent “anti-inflammatory” properties that can help reduce the aches and pains and honey is the only sweetener with “anti-bacterial” properties. Let’s give your cold a 1-2 punch!
Turmeric Tea with Honey…get your cup ready!
- 1 teaspoon turmeric powder
- 1 tablespoon honey
- 1 cup steaming hot water
- 1/4 cup milk or soymilk or almond milk
Mix the turmeric with the honey in the bottom of a mug, until it forms a thick paste. This is an important step.
Now add the hot water and milk. Stir until well combined. Drink hot.
