Fall means sports and that means game food! Whether it’s a snack in front of the TV, in the bleachers or a full blown party, there’s always room to squeeze in some great nutrition. So I’ve brought some new “game day goodie” ideas for having fun and staying healthy at the same time!
Okay, so let’s start with avocados. When you think of avocados where does your mind go? Guacamole! Of course there are lots of other ways to eat 4 or 5 avocados in one sitting but there is nothing like a big bowl of creamy goodness, corn chips and an ice cold beer to say…bring on the game. Here are a couple of really good recipes for guacamole to get you started:
Rockin Gauc (This recipe is so easy, basically just smashed avocados, a can of Rotel and lime juice.)
In the mood for Warm Spinach and Artichoke Dip? Try this better for you version I found on the Frito-Lay website.
Not in the mood for chips? Try this Kickin’ Edamame snack that’s full of spicy, garlicky goodness. It’s a great way to get some complete protein in your diet along with a healthy dose of dietary fiber and micro-nutrients – you know, vitamins and minerals. It’s a snack with a powerful nutritional punch! I hear it goes good with beer.
And we can’t forget the chili! Try this super Easy Chili recipe you can make in less than 30 minutes. Eat a bowl with the game, and freeze leftovers for…what else?…the next game.
Lastly, to make friends or feed a lot of friends, try our Baked Lemon Pepper Chicken Wings recipe.
