- 1 pound ground turkey (93/7 Lean)
- 1/4 cup bread crumbs
- 1 tablespoon onion powder
- 2 Tablespoons Worcestershire sauce
- 1 egg
- 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1/4 teaspoon each salt and pepper
- Hamburger buns, condiments, tomato, lettuce
When you make this turkey burger you won’t be saying “Where’s the beef?” This recipe is so delicious and the best part is you can make just one patty at a time and freeze the rest for use another time. I also like to use this recipe mixture to make turkey meatballs!
Step 1: In a large bowl mix ground turkey, bread crumbs, onion powder, Worcestershire sauce, egg, garlic powder, salt and pepper until well combined with CLEAN HANDS.
Step 2: Form 4 patties with your hands.
Keep one turkey patty aside to cook for today and you can freeze uncooked meat patties in separate plastic baggies to use for another dinner.
Make sure to wash your hands with soap and water after working with raw meat!
Step 3: Heat a skillet to medium. Cook the turkey patty on each side for approximately 10 minutes until done. That’s about 20 minutes total.
What’s done? It shouldn’t be pink in the middle, just a whitish-grey color. If you have a meat thermometer that would be about 180 degrees. Poultry always needs to be well-done.
If you have a George Foreman Grill just put the turkey patty on the cold grill, turn it on medium and cook for about 15 minutes total time.
Step 4: While the turkey patty is cooking, toast your bun, slice a tomato, wash your lettuce and find the condiments you want to use. Cheese, pickles, ketchup, Chipotle mayonaisse, and onion are all great additions on this burger.
Serve this with our crispy Baked Potato Fries.

I just made these burgers and they were delicious. Thanks for the great recipe. However, I did not have any bread crumbs and was wondering if there is a way to substitute something else into the recipe.
Ryan, you can do a couple of things. Cracker crumbs work well( soda or ritz type crackers) or toast a slice of bread and leave it on the counter for 15 minutes so it dries out. You can chop the bread up finely with a knife or make crumbs in a blender. I think using crackers is the easiest method.
Hi Heidi,
I just remembered your site today when we needed to come up with a meal plan for while we are here. So we went to the store to buy everything for turkey burgers. Then the store did not have turkey so we got ground chicken. When we got home I realized I forgot bread crumbs and buns. I made it according to the recipe but it was a sticky mess that was not going to go into patties. So we just cooked it up and rolled it up into a burrito. It was still very good. I wish i had seen the tip about toasting bread before. I cant wait for new recipes. This site is perfect for us. Food is very expensive here.
cheers
When you are in a different country, the grinds of meat can be different. I the ground chicken was mostly dark meat which would be more moist or sticky. If you try this again, make sure the meat is really cold, so put it in the freezer for 30 minutes before you make it. And don’t forget the bread crumbs.
